***FINAL DAY TO TAKE ACTION IN ANA-NY AND NYSANA VIRTUAL LOBBY WEEK**

Posted almost 3 years ago

Last year, we hosted our first virtual lobby day in partnership with our CRNA colleagues from NYSANA.  We were hoping to be back in person for 2021, but the New York State Capitol is still closed, so we are proceeding with another joint virtual lobby day.  While we can’t be in Albany in person, we can still make our voices heard. We will be taking advantage of the virtual nature of our outreach, and instead of just one day, we will have lobby week, which will start on Wednesday, May 6 and run for the duration of National Nurses Week, which runs through May 12.

This year’s theme for National Nurses Week is “Nurse: A Voice to Lead.”  Given all that has occurred over the past year during the COVID-19 pandemic, this theme is beyond appropriate. We have seen nurses stand up and be leaders in all areas of healthcare during the very challenging times the past year has presented.  We know nurses will continue to lead and will be at the forefront of healthcare as we find our way out of the pandemic and look forward to identifying and promoting changes that are needed to ensure that the profession is poised to continue to lead and grow into the future.

How It Works

Members of the legislature like to hear from their own constituents.  As a constituent, you are most important to members of the legislature, so we want to make sure they hear from you. Follow these simple steps to participate:

Step 1:

Ensure that you are signed up for Phone2Action so you can participate in our virtual lobby day.

Step 2:

Review the message intended for your legislator to understand the points being made.  If you want more information about specific legislative priorities, you can visit the ANA-NY website and click on the Policy and Advocacy Link.

Step 3:

Spread the word via social media. Use hashtag #NURSEAVOICETOLEAD to highlight that your association is holding a virtual lobby and ask your fellow nurses to participate.

Step 4:

Share with us! Send an email to executivedirector@anany.org to let us know if you hear back from your legislator.

Need more information or have questions? E-mail Jeanine at executivedirector@anany.org.
